Princess Der Ling (Yu Deling), 1885-1944, Beijing, China, by repute.
Little is known about Yong Shoutian. He is likely to have worked in Beijing, judging from the glass bottle that he has used here, but further research into this minor artist who could on occasion produce fine work such as this, needs to be done. The provenance of this bottle is extensive and we can assume that Princess Der Ling acquired the bottle from the artist himself in 1921. His painting period appears to have been from 1898-1926 from the extant bottles known. Yong Shoutian generally painted in larger, more clumsy bottles and is known for his equestrian scenes of mounted warriors in battle.
