WHITE ON RUBY-RED OVERLAY

Glass, of flattened, rectangular form with shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck, and with a neatly carved oval footrim, carved using the milk-white overlay over a ruby-red ground with, on one main side, a woman looking out from a pavilion into a garden with rockwork and over-hanging trees; the reverse with a deer lying on a rock, under a pine tree beside lingzhi, with a crane and bat in flight above.
Attributed to the Yangzhou School
