BLACK OVERLAY, PRECIOUS OBJECTS

Glass, of rounded form with shoulders sloping to a cylindrical neck and with a neatly carved oval footrim, carved in high relief using the black overlay over a snowflake ground, and decorated on one main side with a collection of scholars' objects, including a brush pot with brushes and a bronze vessel containing a ruyi scepter on a wood stand; the reverse with a similar scene of a brush pot with brushes, a bronze tripod censer with a ruyi scepter, and a scholars' box on a stand; the sides carved with mock mask and ring handles.
