This bottle illustrates well the ability of the potters of Jingde zhen to combine their use of color and design which were inspired by the Palace workshops' potters of both the Ming and the Qing dynasty. Copper red was harder to control than cobalt blue and the prescence of green splashes resulting from the firing of copper oxide, whilst not deliberate, adds a naturalistic three-dimensionality to the lotus flower-heads.
