Although plain Yixing was common on refined wares for the literati, particularly teapots, it is the exception in the snuff bottle world, where slip-decorated or enameled bottles vastly outnumber their plain counterparts. There is a series of plain Yixing snuff bottles signed by one early-nineteenth century artist but, apart from his works, they are relatively rarer than their decorated cousins.
